Researchers at the University of Southern California say the super minerals are found in water-soluble minerals found throughout the planet and in the bodies of people who drink it.
The findings, published in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, say the minerals are water-incompatible, meaning they can be dissolved in water and transported into the bloodstream.
“It means that these super minerals may not only aid the body in a variety of physiological functions, but also can be used to combat some of the environmental impacts that humans have on the planet,” said lead author Dr. Mark Kramar, a geoscientist at the university’s School of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences.
“There’s been a lot of debate over whether super minerals can be effective in treating or preventing disease or in promoting longevity.
This research shows that super minerals do not need to be consumed to be effective.”
Kramar and his colleagues looked at samples of water-saturated minerals from rocks around the world and found that super solubilities ranged from less than 1% to more than 50%.
It also found that there were super minerals that are mostly water- and mineral-rich but also contain a small amount of other minerals, such as carbon, hydrogen and iron.
The study, led by Dr. Daniel R. Raff, a professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and published online by the journal Nature Geoscience, also shows that there are super minerals with a small water content, suggesting that the super-solubility is less a consequence of the super mineral’s presence than of the water it contains.
Super solubiles are mineral-containing compounds that can be found in the ocean.
They are often called water soluble and have high solubile weights and other properties that make them easier to dissolve in water.
They also tend to be more soluble in water than are most other minerals found naturally in the earth’s crust.
Researchers say the study also suggests that super mineral fluids may be a potential tool for improving human health.
“These super solvents have been proposed to be useful for treating infections and cancer,” Kramak said.
“The ability to extract super minerals from water in an effective way has a huge potential for both health and energy use.
They may be more bioavailable than other water solvants, and they can potentially be used as a replacement for a lot less expensive water sources.”
Kraff said the finding could help to explain how super minerals could be used in the future to help people living in remote areas of the world, especially in tropical areas.
“We know that super-potential super solver water-absorbing minerals like calcium are being discovered in remote locations in the tropics,” Kraff said.
“There is a huge need for these materials for water filtration in those regions, and there is a lot that is unknown about how these minerals work.”
