By Joe GerolsteinERROLF, N.Y. (AP) The New York Jets will pay a $1 million fine to the state of New York after they sold a can of mineral water to an employee in a hotel suite in Errol, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) south of New Jersey.
The state’s Division of Drinking Water and Municipal Assistance announced Friday that the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation had fined the Jets $1,000 for violations that occurred between January 2017 and February 2018.
It is the first fine to be issued for the team, which also agreed to forfeit $1.25 million to the company.
The Jets did not comment on the fine.
The league suspended the Jets for five games last season and fined the team $10,000.
